Ground-Breaking Meditation Book for Dual-Disorders

"Prepare for the Harvest" is a new meditation book for those with a dual-diagnosis of addictions and Borderline Personality Disorder [BPD].

This literary volume is a ground-breaking combination meditation book that focuses on the needs, concerns, and questions that face an individual who wishes to seek a concurrent recovery from an addiction and the mental health horror of BPD.

This book will be useful to a relatively large audience. BPD affects 2 out of 50 people, or roughly 4% of the population (or more), which is 10.8 million people in the United States. Research shows that 70% of those with BPD also abuse alcohol, drugs, food, sex, gambling, or some other addictive activity. Borderlines diagnosed are 3% female and 1% male, but these proportions are rapidly changing. There are approximately fourteen (14) million alcoholics in this country, and three (3) million of them attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Seven (7) million alcoholics have psychiatric disorders; 1.8 million people are afflicted with a specific diagnosis of alcoholism and BPD. Hundreds of thousands deal with some other addiction along with this devastating mental disorder.

Ms. Allison's experience with recovery from alcoholism since August 1989 served as the basis for her daily readings of suggestions, experiences, and hope. Enrollment in Dialectical Behavior Therapy [DBT] in 2004, as devised by Dr. Marsha Linehan, saved Amy's life as her own BPD was diagnosed after 15 years of sobriety from alcoholism.

Amy's webquest on Borderline Personality Disorder, created in 2009, examines all of the facets of this mental disorder in depth. Her meditation book presents many scenarios that are problematic in both diagnoses. DBT, the Twelve-Steps, Dual-Disorder Recovery, dry humor, pertinent quotes, non-sugarcoated comments, tough love, strength, hope and spirituality are all woven into the 366 mini-essays within "Prepare for the Harvest. Each day the reader will glean a tip that will be helpful in achi! eving du al-recovery from this mental health problem and addiction. Having an open (fertile) mind will allow the tilling of the mental and spiritual fields, the planting of behavioral seeds, and the reaping of a bountiful harvest.
