1st Anniversary of the Center for Living Peace

When Kelly Smith first opened the non-profit peace education organization the Center for Living Peace, she had no idea that in just one year the Center would challenge mainstream definitions of peace, host a Living Peace Series with high-profile international leaders, inspire the implementation of youth directed service projects, and impact the lives of over 1,000 class and workshop participants.

On Saturday, May 14th, 2011, the Center for Living Peace will be hosting a birthday party in honor of its 1-year anniversary. On this day the community can enjoy FREE family-friendly classes that focus on compassion and living peace from 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. "This is our way of thanking the community for making our first year such a success," says Kelly. "I am so grateful for all of our program affiliates, Living Peace Series partners and the Orange County community for their support, enthusiasm and encouragement. It's inspiring to see such GOOD HAPPEN here in Orange County as we celebrate our first birthday! I hope everyone stops in for a cupcake!"

We will be offering programs such as Tibetan inspired art projects with Bowers Museum, a screening and facilitated discussion of the documentary Peace One Day, story-time with award winning children's author Mina Javaherbin, New Earth Drumming, Smiling Monkey Yoga for Kids, Qi Gong, Shambhala Meditation and more!
