Binaural Beats and You

Binaural Beats work at such a low frequency that they can't even be heard by the human ear, it is only your brain that perceives them. Science achieves this by supplying two different frequencies into either ear (such as 315 Hz for the left and 325 Hz for the right) and the brain perceives the difference between the two as a separate beat entirely. This can alter the frequency of your brain waves and makes it possible to adjust your level of consciousness for your own means, like meditation, relaxation therapy and so on.

The whole purpose of this article is to round up all the proven merits, benefits and possible uses that arise from the science of Binaural Beats in one easy to read structure. Some claims out there are rather speculative in nature, such as the ability to mimic drugs through the use of Binaural Beats. I can't vouch for such products, nor shall I over the course of this article. Instead, I'm going to focus on what appear to be the facts rather than the myth behind the potential uses of binaural beats.

1. Increased mental focus, memory, alertness and creativity (alpha/beta waves) - Beta waves are a higher frequency at which your brain can operate at. It is at these frequencies that the capacity for mental activity increases, making you more perceptive and able to do complex forms of problem solving. Using binaural beats as a study aid can help the digestion of information and improve the capacity for creative thought.

2. Meditation (alpha/delta/theta waves) - Binaural beats can help a person meditate. Whilst under meditation, our brains naturally start falling towards the lower end of the frequency spectrum. The longer you meditate, the further it falls. Binaural beats, in essence, cuts the middle man out and speeds up this process by helping you focus and block out any excess sensory input.

3. Psychotherapy (delta waves mainly) - Studies have shown that the extended use of binaural beats for psychotherapy can greatly reduce anxiety and depression.

4.! Curing insomnia (delta waves) - Insomnia is normally caused by stress, and when we're stressed our brain finds it hard to reach the low levels of activity that enables sleep. When we sleep, our brain operates at the lowest frequency of brain wave possible. These are called delta waves, and by helping induce such frequencies, binaural audio has become a tried and tested means to induce sleep while still mentally active.

5. Lucid dreaming/remote reviewing (Delta/theta/alpha waves) - A variety of brain waves are replicated in an intricate way in order to obtain some of these desired effects. Obviously a certain degree of training and research is required, but the use of binaural beats can greatly improve your rates of success if utilized properly.
