Practicing Yoga at home

Yoga is a science, thousands of years old. There are no fitness programs, exercise routines or medical breakthroughs that can match the power of yoga. Practicing Yoga requires only an open mind and a desire to improve. While it is highly recommended to practice with a teacher, real Yoga can only be practiced alone. The real Yoga teacher is inside. The perfect practice includes communication with a teacher and constant self-exercise that builds confidence, discipline and facilitates advancement.Practicing Yoga at home has numerous benefits, but how do you approach this without a teacher?Until your mastery of Yoga routines allows you to perform asanas without referencing others there are some tools that may help in establishing a successful home practice.Yoga DVDsWhen selecting a yoga program, pay attention to the quality of the product. Make sure your DVDs do not make any empty promises, or offer instant cures for weight loss, stress relief etc. Remember, all this must come from the inside, naturally. A great Yoga DVD must be hosted by a real instructor with a goal to spread knowledge and not to sell as many discs as possible. Also, pay attention to the structure of the DVD's menu, ideally it must allow to build a personalized routine, with different lengths of practice as options. See my selection of the best Yoga DVDs available today - http://yogamatreview.org/yoga-dvds/. A guided meditation at the end of practice is a very important feature of any good Yoga DVD.Yoga BooksMy suggestion is to read the essential books on Yoga philosophy on a regular basis. These books, like the Bible, are fountains of wisdom, knowledge and answers to all questions. Continue reading The Yoga Sutras, The Bhagavad Gita and The Heart of Yoga throughout your entire life and gradually peace of mind will come and certain realizations will change you forever. These books will help your Yoga practice tremendously.MusicMost music played today is commercial, created to capitalize on our weaknesses and ge! nerate a s much profit as possible. This kind of music requires high volume, as it is incapable of reaching us on subtle levels. We must be deafened, destroyed and overpowered before we surrender to pop, mostly against our natural desires. Spiritual, natural, real music on the other hand has amazing powers and may benefit your Yoga practice as much as performing asanas. Artists such as Krishna Das, Jai Uttal and Deva Premal create beautiful music that reaches deeps inside and purifies our minds and bodies.Practicing Yoga at the comfort of your own home has great benefits and should become a part of your daily routine if you are serious about self-improvement.

Don't Pass On The Healthy Benefits Of Meditation

Posted: 24 Jan 2012 04:00 AM PST

Article by Frank Iamin

When many people think of meditation, they simply think of monks who live in caves or monasteries, spending their days sitting cross-legged on the floor. Even today, many people do not realize the benefits of meditation, so they never bother to try it out for themselves.

The fact is, meditation is not just for monks and gurus. Everybody can enjoy all the benefits that meditation has to offer. For thousands of years many different type of people have used meditation to reach their goals and improve their general feelings of well being.

Reducing Stress is one of the most widely known benefits of meditation. Just the very act of clearing your mind and finding a quiet place to meditate will work wonders to reduce your stress levels. Also, the feelings of peace and serenity that you can experience long after the meditation is over will help you to tackle your daily chores and alow your day to flow smoothly.

Reducing your stress level opens the door for many of the other benefits of meditation. First, when you reduce anxiety and stress, you are able to focus more clearly on your daily tasks, completing them more quickly and efficiently. This will give you more freedom to do the things you truly enjoy doing and will help to limit your amount of stress even further.

Second, when you experience stress and anxiety, your body releases cortisol, a dangerous chemical that is linked to many diseases, including cancer, diabetes, and strokes. By using meditation you are able to reduce the potential harmful effects of high cortisol levels in your body.

Third, improved sleep is a byproduct of stress reduction, making it one of the key benefits of meditation. When it is time to go to sleep we find it hard to quiet our constant stream of thoughts, which is a direct result of the stresses of everyday life. Unfortunately because of this, the deep sleep we need for our mental, physical and emotional healing doesn't happen. One of the benefits of daily meditation will be a much better night! s rest, increased energy during the day and renewed vigor.

Aside from stress reduction, one of the greatest benefits of meditation is the ability to get rid of the "monkey mind", the useless chatter that goes on in most people's heads. Have you ever noticed how your mind becomes cluttered with worries, irrelevant thoughts, and negativity, even when you are trying to focus on an important task? This is the "monkey mind", and most of us aren't even really aware that it exists. Consistent meditation allows you to quiet the "monkey mind", so that you can focus more clearly and achieve goals more efficiently.

Even though the concept of meditation can be rather difficult for a lot of people to learn, especially if they perceive their stress and mind chatter as just a "way of life", the benefits of meditation are well worth your effort. Even if you only dedicate a half-hour a day to meditation, you can reap a number of benefits that will change your life!

About the Author

The benefits of meditation are something that we all need to experience first hand to live a longer stress free life. As you learn how to meditate deeply you may find that you will want to use some meditation aids to help you with your progress.

The Many Uses of Meditation

Article by Jane Michael

Meditation as often though of as a way to reach some sort of psychic mental state but there are many more reasons for people for individuals pursuing meditation. Through meditation there are a number of ways to lead the body, mind, and spirit to peace and it does not necessarily have to be a difficult task. There are simple techniques that can be used to give beginners the state of mind they are seeking and there are more intricate practices for those that have been involved in meditation for a longer amount of time that will help them to take that state to a higher level. But one thing that individuals who wish to practice meditation must remember is that you have to find the particular technique that is right for you as an individual.

One of the most common reasons for people taking up the practice of meditation is to aid themselves in relaxation. For many individuals all of the days stresses, and worries make it very difficult for them to relax at the end of a hard day. Some people may go home and enjoy a glass of wine at night, some may take a hot bubble bath, and then there are some who go home and find a quiet place where they can meditate. This allows these individuals to release all of that negative energy that may have built up in them throughout the day and come back to themselves in their true form. This release of such negative energy allows such individuals to relax and enjoy their time away from their busy, hectic lifestyles. For this reason meditation is practiced by a great number of individuals as a way to simply relax.

Another common reason for individuals practicing meditation is in order to better control their mind. To many meditation is a way to teach the mind to concentrate and focus on those things that are most important to the individual. During meditation practices the individual is taught to clear the mind of all thoughts or in some cases to think of only one particular focus point. Although this may be difficult for many, especially in the beginning, it is! an impo rtant part of bringing the mind to a higher level consciousness or awareness. This will help the mind to think more clearly when it comes out of its meditative state as there will not be the jumbled mix of thoughts brought on by the days pressures that were there before the practice of meditation.

Others may use meditation as a way relieve themselves from certain ailments caused by stress. There are a number of annoying ailments cause by the stress of life such as headaches, upset stomach, and trouble sleeping. In many cases a short session of meditation can help individuals to overcome such ailments through not only relaxing the mind but the body and spirit as well. Meditation is an excellent way to make yourself feel better and the difference will be noticed almost immediately.

Meditation Techniques and Definition

Article by A. Thomas Perhacs

What is meditation and how does it benefit you?

The principal question that is raised about meditation is the one which has no absolute answer. There is no universally established answer to the question merely as there is no implication of language like water, red and pleased.

The term "meditation" describes a pretense and a state of existence. Just as merely a person who has seen the color red can depict it well, only a person who has performed this act and reached the state can answer this question with authority.

However, the answer to this question is not imperative in so far as practicing mediation is concerned. All one needs to contain is a broad understanding of the label and its implications. Its definite implication is best left to philosophers and theorists.

Meditation is an attempt to glance into our mind while it is devoid of all opinion. Several methods of meditation seek to accomplish the same goal, to understand and befall aware of our mind.

More often than not, we confuse our mind with our opinion. We verbalize about our mind when we are really referring to our opinion. It takes a quantity of practice to comprehend the difference among our opinion and the mind from where it begin.

Meditation is an attempt to connect with the source of the opinion and understand what it is and how it works. Needless to say, consideration is easier said than done. The subsequent things occur the instant an individual attempts to meditate:

- Our mind becomes extremely conscious of our pains to introspect and our sense organs become very effective. We hear things normally unnoticed, we learn it hard to keep our eyes closed, and we pick up various scents and get preoccupied and pause introspecting.

- Our mind is overflowing with numerous opinion the instant we try to clear them. Our efforts to order our mind to continue thought boundless leads to further thoughts and we completely give up without having succeeded in entering our minds.

- The mind be! comes so relaxed that we soon fall into deep and relaxed snooze. This effectively puts an end to our attempt to meditate.

So How Does One Successfully Meditate?

It is crucial to keep in mind that the journey is as vital as the destination when one is meditating. Even attempts to meditate advance to greater awareness regarding the self. More often than not, even trying to meditate helps us translucent mental cobwebs and relax.

In today's stressful planet, spending a few minutes disconnected from the world inside our mind often helps us relax. This is the primary rationale why more and more people are turning towards meditation.

It is widely established as the most powerful tool to fight stress, tension and anxiety. The combination of these three factors has the possibility to be fatal. No amount of prescription can provide the relief that meditation offers.

One thing that applies in support of meditation is that it has enormously no depressing effects. You may possibly feel that you have not gained anything valuable from meditation but you certainly will not lose anything because of it.

Attaining Mental Clarity & Joy through Meditation

Posted: 24 Jan 2012 02:00 AM PST

Practitioners and teachers have long described the numerous mental and physical benefits of yoga and meditation practice. A recent scientific study measuring the electrical activity in the brain of those practicing a specific meditative practice, taught in Isha Foundation's Inner Engineering program, provides scientific evidence to support some of these claims. The self-realized yogi and the founder of Isha Foundation, Sadhguru Vasudev, will be visiting Houston May 4-6, 2012 to conduct this Inner Engineering yoga and meditation program, which offers a powerful possibility to balance and align one's inner energies, leading to enhanced joy as well as improved physical and mental well-being.

The Inner Engineering program includes interactive discussions, guided meditations, a set of simple, gentle asanas (yoga poses) and the transmission of Shambhavi Mahamudra kriya. Shambhavi Mahamudra is a 21-minute practice that greatly accelerates spiritual transformation and can have powerful physiological benefits as well. The kriya is an ancient internal energy process that functions as a catalyst for spiritual growth. When practiced regularly, the Shambhavi Mahamudra kriya will support health and inner wellbeing the rest of one's life.

The study* of the brain activity of meditators demonstrated dramatic changes in electrical wave patterns in the brain after just 21 minutes of Shambhavi practice. These results included marked increases in the slow frequency delta and theta wave patterns characteristic of deep relaxation, and increased activity in areas of the brain important for alertness and focus. The EEG study also found marked increases in synchronization of wave patterns in the right and left sides of the brain. Referred to as 'whole-brain synchronization,' this phenomenon is commonly associated with more efficient and effective mental processing capabilities, including heightened mental clarity and sharper discrimination, better learning ability, and increased creativity.

In a 2010 survey of 536 practitioners of Shambhavi, 86% reported reductions in stress and anxiety with 91% of respondents saying they felt a deeper sense of overall peace. 80% of practitioners in the study also felt they had improved mental clarity and 70% reported increased mental concentration.

Participants of Sadhguru's Inner Engineering program not only report feeling much happier as a result, they also commonly express greatly reduced levels of stress and anxiety, increased mental-alertness, enhanced focus and self-awareness. "I am happier with life and more accepting, I am more responsible and somehow more in tune with everything," shared a recent participant of the Inner Engineering program. "I've become a much more confident and positive person, able to think clearly and deal with complicated situations and emotionally sensitive issues," explained another.

According to Sadhguru, the 10,000-year-old science of yoga understands the human system not just as a physical body, but as five layers of body. These five layers are the physical body, mental body, pranic energy body, etheric body and bliss body. It is alignment of the bodies, the koshas, that allows a yoga practitioner to experience the bliss at the core of human life.

"The reason why most people in the world do not know joy is that the physical, the mental, and the 'pranic' or the energy-body, are not in alignment. The core of you is joy; over that there are four layers. If they are properly aligned, a natural expression, an overwhelming expression of joyfulness will naturally happen within a human being," explained Sadhguru in a recent introductory talk. "People may achieve this state in so many ways. Someone is listening to music and at a certain moment he experiences joyfulness because in that moment his physical body, mind, energy, everything is focused in one direction, and suddenly, a burst of joyfulness happens within. Maybe somebody is dancing, it happens with him. Maybe somebody is looking at something beautiful, it happens to him. These are all different ways that it may happen. Now (in Inner Engineering programs) we are looking at the technology of keeping these three bodies constantly aligned so that joyfulness is not an accidental happening; joyfulness becomes a normal condition, a natural way of living for you."

Want To Start Practicing Meditation? Try Binaural Meditation For Ease And Convenience

Posted: 23 Jan 2012 10:00 PM PST

Article by Jim Woodruff

You've probably heard that meditation has a considerable number of physiological, psychological, and spiritual benefits and you would like to get started. There are a lot of meditation methods that have been developed over the years and they can all be effective if you spend enough time learning and practicing. Binaural meditation is a technology that aids in the meditation process and makes its easier to learn and results come quicker.

Every type of meditation method is designed to take the tension and anxiety out of your body and to lower brainwave activity into the slower frequency ranges of alpha and theta. During the day the brain is normally functioning in the dominant high frequency range of beta.

During meditation you are trying to slow the brain down and be able to shut off the constant "chatter" that is going on. As with most of us, we are constantly thinking about problems at work, household chores that we have to do, things that the kids need and on and on. It takes training to be able to focus intently and concentration intensely enough to close the door to this noise and be able to get into those peaceful zones of meditation.

If you practice meditation enough you will be able to do this. But if you can't practice enough and want quicker results, then binaural meditation is the solution.

Binaural meditation is a technological method of listening to specially constructed tones that are listened to while wearing headphones. They are designed to help the brain move its brainwave frequency levels down from the active state of beta and into those meditative ranges of alpha and theta. This makes it less necessary to focus and concentrate so intently to achieve the meditative. A binaural beats download provides a huge assist so that you don't have to work so hard to meditate.

If you want to start practicing meditation, try binaural meditation. A binaural beats download is easily obtained on the internet. They are easy t! o use an d will make meditation more enjoyable and worthwhile.

10 Practical Steps to Learn Yoga

Posted: 23 Jan 2012 09:00 PM PST

Article by Kevin Pederson

Even though the discipline of yoga is thousands of years old, it has not lost its relevance in this day and age. Thousands of people practice yoga all over the world today. This in itself is a testament to the popularity of this discipline. The basic aim behind the practice of yoga is to reconnect all the different parts of the body to the mind and soul.Practicing yoga can help improve your overall health and well being. If you learn how to do yoga, you can create a healthy balance in your life and will be able to lead a healthier and happier life.

Here's what you need to do to learn yoga:1.Yoga requires you to focus your energies into certain constructive channels so that you are able to gain maximum benefit out of your situation. There are several different types of yoga disciplines and the first step to learning yoga is to get a basic understanding about all these disciplines and choose one that you would follow. For beginners, hatha yoga is considered most suitable, since it is one of the gentlest forms of yoga. As you progress and become more confident about yourself, you can progress to Vinyasa yoga or Power yoga.

2.It is important to realize that yoga is not for everybody. If you begin practicing yoga and feel that it's not doing much for you, or you get bored and think that it is not worth your time and money, you should back out. The entire system of yoga is spiritual and a belief in the discipline is a prerequisite in order to reap the most benefits. If you are not able to create that belief, it is better that you withdraw.

3.Give a consideration to your lifestyle, health, and budget before you commit to yoga lessons. Certain medical conditions may become aggravated through the practice of yoga.

4.There are two ways to approach a yoga lesson. Many people join yoga studios and get trained under the watchful eye of a trainer. However, there are also those who prefer doing yoga at their own pace and in the privacy of their home using books and videos. Choose what! suits y ou the best.

5.If you are signingup for a class, you will be able to learn many of the positions by watching your instructor perform it. One of the advantages of taking a class is that your instructor can correct you if you are going wrong.

6.Once you have begun practicing some of the basic poses, the next thing is to incorporate meditative techniques of Kundalini yoga and pranayama into your routine. This will help you gain a higher spiritual consciousness.

7.Even when you have begun practicing, it pays to read about yoga. The more you read, the more you will know about the philosophies and the principles on which yoga has been founded.

8.Once you are confident about practicing some of the poses on your own, buy yourself some DVDs so that you can practice alone at home too.

9.You can plan a yoga retreat for yourself and your friends.

10.Keep practicing yoga even when you stop taking classes. This will help you to continue on the path to good health and spiritual consciousness.

Meditation. You Must Try This! Accelerate your Evolution!

Kriya Yoga is a simple, psychophysiological method by which human blood is decarbonated and recharged with oxygen. The atoms of this extra oxygen are transmuted into life current to rejuvenate the brain and spinal centers. By stopping the accumulation of venous blood, the yogi is able to lessen or prevent the decay of tissues. The advanced yogi transmutes his cells into energy. Elijah, Jesus, Kabir, and other prophets were past masters in the use of Kriya or a similar technique, by which they caused their bodies to materialize and dematerialize at will. Kriya is an ancient science. Lahiri Mahasaya received it from his great guru, Babaji, who rediscovered and clarified the technique after it had been lost in the Dark Ages. Babaji renamed it, simply, Kriya Yoga. "Kriya Yoga is an instrument through which human evolution can be quickened," Sri Yukteswar explained to his students. "The ancient yogis discovered that the secret of cosmic consciousness is intimately linked with breath mastery. This is India's unique and deathless contribution to the world's treasury of knowledge. The life force, which is ordinarily absorbed in maintaining heart action, must be freed for higher activities by a method of calming and stilling the ceaseless demands of the breath." The Kriya Yogi mentally directs his life energy to revolve, upward and downward, around the six spinal centers (medullary, cervical, dorsal, lumbar, sacral, and coccygeal plexuses), which correspond to the twelve astral ...

Effective Way for Weight Loss - Hot Yoga

Posted: 23 Jan 2012 08:00 PM PST

Article by Kevin Pederson

The benefits of yoga are well known. Yoga is not only beneficial for losing weight and toning the body, but has an overall impact on your health. Yoga can help you enhance your spirituality by establishing a balance between the physical, mental, and spiritual energies.

Yoga is also an ideal fitness routine for anyone who is looking to lose weight. It is a gentle exercise and the motions involved in the practice of yoga are slow, deliberate, and fluid. However, recently, the practice of yoga for weight loss has gained popularity. The traditional form of yoga has been worked upon and adapted into modern styles which are more suitable to the modern practitioner and the environment around us.

Hot yoga has been the most recent variation of yoga. This variation has been made especially for those who want to lose weight. Hot yoga is a practice that takes place in a heated room. The intensity of the heat, when coupled with the fluid motions of the yoga routine helps burn more calories in the same amount of time.

The poses and postures of hot yoga are very much like the traditional yoga. The only specialty of hot yoga is that it is performed in an intensely hot room which is heated up to 90 degree Fahrenheit. A lot of people tend to confuse hot yoga with Bikram yoga. Though Bikram Choudhary has invented the concept of hot yoga, it is not the same as Bikram yoga. While Bikram yoga has a specific copyrighted sequence of yoga poses and postures, hot yoga can be performed in any manner. The routines of hot yoga depend a lot on the studio where it is being practiced. It is believed that the benefits of yoga can be enhanced when it is practiced in a high temperature. As the temperature rises, the practice of yoga becomes more intense, allowing the body to burn more calories. The heat also allows the blood vessels and the muscles to expand and relax. The poses and postures to be practiced in hot yoga are specifically chosen. The poses which help stretch and stimulate the muscles are preferre! d over l ight and relaxing exercises of yoga.

Based on the temperature created in the studio and the type of exercises chosen for the routine, the results may differ from studio to studio. However, if the temperature is more, the body sweats more and more calories are burnt.

Signs and Symptoms of The Kundailni Awakening Experience

The Kundalini Experience

Kundalini Awakening Signs

To help people identify that what they were feeling and experiencing were actually signs of Kundalini Awakening and not symptoms of a mental or medical condition, I created a list of Kundalini Awakening Symptoms for them to use as a reference.  These symptoms were from my own experience with Kundalini Rising, and were certainly not comprehensive.

Kundalini is a very mysterious process and its awakening and rising tends to always have some unique and personal aspects.  Of course there are many common signs, but if you read the hundreds of comments in that article thread, you will notice there are various different ways that people experience kundalini.   These varied experiences they gives us more insight into the nature and secrets of kundalini and how she works.

One good thing though with regard to Kundalini Syndrome, which is what the experience of Kundalini Awakening is often referred to as, is that the approach to dealing with the challenges such awakening brings is usually common.  Of course there are cases on the extreme end of the spectrum, which need medical intervention and/or psychotherapy, but the vast majority of cases can be handled individually by following the advise laid out in the following 2 articles…

7 Effective Tips for Dealing with Kundalini Syndrome

Kundalini Shakti Held and Advise

So as I alluded to above, the list of kundalini symptoms I enumerated is not necessarily a complete list, and today I want to share with you Don's kundalini experience, which has a detailed account of what he went through with regard to kundalini.

I find his account very useful as it adds to the list of signs of kundalini awakening and also provides valuable advise and help for others who might be struggling with kundalini syndrome.  I want to thank Don for sharing his experience with us and if you have yourself experienced kundalni rising please do share your experiences with us in the comments section below.  I am sure others will benefit from your insights as well.

Don's Kundalni Experience and Symptom List:

When I started to experience, what I later found out after intensive soul searching and some online research, to be Kundalini symptoms, I was, to put it quite bluntly, terrified.  The height of their intensity was in November, October, and December of 2010.  I awoke suddenly in the middle of the night to some intensely pleasurable vibrations of a sexual nature, when my wife was sound asleep next to me.  Since I knew it wasn't coming from either of us, I was disturbed, putting it mildly.  The next few months were followed by me not being able to sleep without the light on.  I felt very strong waves of unseen energy traveling from the soles of my feet toward my head. It was like being in a massage chair.  I had nightmares, and I couldn't shake the feeling of being watched.

I went through some nights or days when I was home alone with so! me inten se kriyas.  That's what terrified me more than anything at the time. I had no control of what was happening, and I didn't yet understand why.  My spine felt like it was elongating. I would go through periods of spontaneous stretching.  I was also experiencing some painful aches in my left side, just under my ribcage, which my doctor had no medical explanation for, after she put her stethoscope to where the pain was.  That physical pain only lasted a few months,
thankfully.  I went through some horrible neck and back pain for those few months, too.  At times, I couldn't even stand up straight.

Here's a list of other symptoms I was experiencing at the time:

1. Spontaneous popping sounds coming from my nose
.

2. Itchy crawly sensations on my left leg, between my eyebrows, cheeks, and my neck.

3. What felt like tremendous heat around my left leg and foot. I went through an agonizing forklift injury to my left foot in 2003 that was followed by a long bout of depression, over not being able to support my family the way I was used to, so that needed tremendous healing, and it has in more ways than one today. I didn't lose my foot, but the crushing injury shattered several bones in my heel, severing my ligaments, and liquifying the soft tissues inside my foot. I shouldn't be able to run on it today, but I can sprint today from home plate to first base. That shouldn't be possible, considering the severity of the injury.

4. Intense ringing in my ears
.

5. Spontaneous emotional trauma and anxiety (sudden memories cropping up of past trauma of sex abuse my brother and I endured at a daycare in the early seventies)

6. Tachycardia (rapid heart rate of 100 beats a minute or more)
.

7. Severe headaches
.

8. Seeing black blobs of color with my eyes closed that were beyond dark (fears that needed to be released that manifested into dark entities that I could feel and sense)

9. Unexplained twitches unrelated to anything like Parkinson's disease
.

10. Being jerked awake at times, almost like my arm was suddenly pulled out of socket.

11. Severe lack of sleep.

12. Considered checking into a mental hospital, and so glad I didn't
.

13. Considered an exorcism.

14. Severe lack of concentration, like I couldn't retain any new information.

15. What felt like electrical sparks around my head and in between my eyebrows.

16. Spontaneous orgasms that would go on for hours when I was alone with no stimulation or visual! . (Reminded me of puberty, without a doubt, although I was now 40)

17. Nocturnal emissions (wet dreams).

18. Spontaneous yoga positions, although I'd never taken yoga (something I also experienced often around the age of 10-15).

The list goes on, believe me, but these were the most intense.

Then, an amazing thing happened at about 3 in the morning. I had been lying in bed terrified, when I was suddenly out of my body up near the ceiling in the corner of my bedroom. I looked down to see an intensely beautiful being rubbing my forehead, comforting me. I saw what I can only describe as her wings, stretched down past my toes. My entire bedroom was lit up in the most amazing blue light I can even imagine. In an instant, I was next to my kids' room, where the light was a beautiful shade of orange. Then, I was in the living room, gazing down at my daughter as she was bathed by a brilliant white light, where she had fallen asleep. Then, I ended up in the kitchen to see an amazing shade of green throughout that space. Before I knew it, I was back in my body.

From that moment on, I have been in awe. I released my fears. I truly did experience a "dark night of the soul."  If you're going through anything like that, and you're scared, just release your fear. Fill your heart and thoughts with love.  Love vibrates at a very high frequency.

In the coming months, I started to sleep soundly all night long. I started to see ! auras wi th the naked eye, as I do today quite clearly. My aura is the most amazing neon green I can imagine, and lately I've been seeing my aura turn more blue, and it's getting stronger and bigger all the time. I'm in school right now, working on medical assisting classes, and I plan on using that as a stepping stone to move into nursing.

There is a spiritual awakening going on. I can feel it every moment.  Trust your heart.  Trust your intuition. Love yourself as you deserve to be loved, so that you can share that with others.

Lately, I've been able to see brilliant shades of purple, blue, and green with my eyes closed, and especially during and shortly after meditation.  I see these with the naked eye just as easily.  The universe all around us is teeming with life.  I trust in that with every ounce of my intuition. It's something that I've always had a gut feeling about. It's nice to know it's true.

Namaste and God bless you always! – Don Winslow

Kundalini Experience Signs and Symptoms Summary:

Don's experience is that of a full blown kundalini awakening.   If you are experiencing kundalini activating, you may also be experiencing some of these symptoms.

What I want to especially highlight here is the importance of Trust.  If you are going through something like this, you have to simply trust the process.  This will help reduce the anxiety, stress and fear that accompanies such a process, which will also help reduce some of the symptoms that are actually not related to kundalini rising, but related to stress and anxiety.  I know this! can be very hard to do, but the more you can trust kundalini, the better you will be able to handle her.

Some of the interesting symptoms that Don experienced that are often reported are those of spontaneous yoga poses, itchy creepy crawly, intense pressure in the forehead and spontaneously organisms.  If you are also experiencing any symptoms of kundalini awakening, feel free to share them with us in the comments sections below.

Yoga Helps to Alleviate Depression and Lead A Tension-Free Life

Posted: 23 Jan 2012 07:00 PM PST

Article by Karan Khalsa

In todays world, tension-depression-worries are some of the most commonly used words. Depression has become a very common problem now. More the world is getting civilized more the tensions and worries are getting into our lives. Our busy and complicated lifestyles are the main source of these tensions, worries and depression and nobody can escape it. But what one can do is include yoga in his daily lifestyle. Yoga is perhaps the best weapon to combat depression which comes with our fast-paced lifestyle. Any kind and form of yoga, be it Kundalini yoga or Ashtanga yoga, are in true sense, beneficial to human kind. Yoga has the magical power of helping the mind to ward off all unnecessary tensions and thus helps it to relax. Yoga paired with any kind of devotional or spiritual music such as yoga music, can do wonder.

Regular practice of yoga can give instant relief from daily stresses. Because yoga poses increase the level of the neurotransmitter GABA in the body which in turn, reduces depression. A depressed person becomes immobile both physically and mentally. But after doing various yoga poses for a few minutes, the body muscles get back their normal flexibility as well as the blood circulation in the whole body becomes normal or else better than normal. The most beneficial point of doing yoga is that it has no such serious side-effects unlike anti-depressant pills. Yoga poses or asanas and even some breathing exercises tick on the energy level of a human being and brushes off the tiredness or fatigue from both mind and body. If a little bit of soothing meditation music can be incorporated in yoga practicing, it refreshes the mind with its calm tune and elevates the level of concentration. Online music companies are bringing up their exclusive as well as vast range of different devotional yoga music CDs and DVDs which will help the yoga practitioners or aspirants to learn and perform yoga poses in a proper way.

Another part of yoga, Pranayama or the breathing practices, are also very ! much hel pful in alleviating the tension level. Pranayama creates a sense of well-being and calmness in the mind and body. It prevents from over-loading the mind and body with too much tensions and anxieties because it pushes oxygen to the brain and body muscles. Some particular form of pranayama like ujjayi pranayama is perhaps the best option for healing depression. Likewise some specific form of yoga such as Kundalini yoga helps to increase the level of self-consciousness which ultimately helps an individual to get himself free from all worldly bonds and thoughts.

Spirit Voyage, an online music company, introduces a great collection of spiritual music and meditation music CDs, DVDs and books which can be of great help to the yoga aspirants. The collection includes the work of world famous personalities. The yoga music category includes Adhara by Nirinjan Kaur, Meditation Drum by David and Steve Gordon, Radiance by Jaya Lakshmi, Mantra Masala by Sada Sat Kaur and many more.

The yoga DVDs has Vitality and Stress (4 DVD Set) by Yogi Bhajan PhD, Radiant Health with Naam Yoga by Gurunam Joseph Michael Levry, Flow Yoga for Beginners by Shiva Rea and other best collection to offer. So, it is time to throw out all the depressions from the mind and enjoy a tension-free spiritual life forever with yoga DVDs available at Spirit Voyage.

Meditation Music for Relaxation and Therapy

Posted: 23 Jan 2012 06:00 PM PST

Article by Mick Shaw

Meditation is a great way to relieve the stress of the day. You don't have to be in a spa or at a retreat to do it either. All you need is a quite room and some music to help you relax the day away.

Where To Find Meditation Music: There are a ton of places to find meditation music. Some will even let you sample it a little before you actually buy it. I have found that the best places to find meditation music is at your local department stores. They will usually have stations set up in the candle isle for anyone to listen to the relaxing music that they offer.

Online is also a good place to look for meditation music because you will probably be able to listen to at least a short sample online that will give you an idea as to what the music may sound like. You may also be able to get some free options that you can use for your meditation.

How To Use Meditation Music: There are many ways that you can use meditation music to help you relax. The common ways that this works is as follows:

Find a place that is quite and will let you sink into the meditation music. A bedroom or a quite garden stop is a great place to go for your meditations. Just make sure that it has the electricity that you need to play your meditation music.

Relax your mind and body in a sitting or laying position. That way it will be easier for you to really get into the meditation process.

Breathe deeply and let go of all outside thoughts. This is the hard part of the meditation process, but the most important of them, so take the time to get it right.

It may take some practice but by using these techniques you will be able to meditate without anything but your meditation music and your quite room or place of comfort. Take your time and try all that you feel comfortable with. That way you will be able to meditate easier every time and you won't have to try as hard the next time.

All the tools you need for total personal growth and success can be found right here.

Yoga and weight loss

Posted: 23 Jan 2012 05:00 PM PST

Article by kennedyjohn971

There is a common belied that yoga exercises help reducing weight and burning fat effectively. Of course, yoga is widely known for improving the overall health of the body, toning the muscles, joints, increasing flexibility, eliminating certain health problems, fighting stress and providing general relaxation. But how effective it is for losing excessive weight and can it replace such drugs as Phentermine?

The answer is not as simple as you may want it to be. There are many types of yoga available for practice, each having its own peculiarities and aiming at a certain result. And some types of yoga just don't provide the necessary heartbeat increase in order to be used as a weight loss exercise. It also strongly depends on how frequently you are doing yoga exercises and which yoga type you are following.

Weight loss is typically achieved through a healthy diet and types of physical activities that will increase your heart rate above the usual on a regular basis. It's not a matter of building up muscles or increasing your flexibility - things that you can achieve through such yoga type as Iyengar, where you take intense efforts to hold a posture for minutes. It's a matter of making your heart work faster and burn calories that are stored in the form of fat within your body.

If you still want to make yoga as your primary type of exercise due to various reasons, you should choose an intense yoga type and do full scale training for 1.5 hours not less than three days a week. It is also highly recommended to combine yoga with more intense cardio-exercises such as aerobics, running, walking, cycling or swimming if you want to achieve your weight loss goals faster and more effectively. You can also buy Phentermine to make it even better.

When speaking about a particular type of yoga, the best one that will help you lose weight is vinyasa (also known as flow yoga). This particular yoga type is build up on a series of special postures referred to as sun salutations. Vinyasa yoga i! ncorpora tes a variety of athletic and heart-rate increasing yoga variations. If you want to practice a type of yoga that would help you lose weight, take a closer look at the following:

Ashtanga:

Ashtanga is a highly intense for of yoga practice with a few distinct advantages for those who want to lose weight. Those who practice Ashtanga are known as the most rigorous yoga fans and many beginners are recommended with instructional and motivational classes before diving deep into this practice. One of the biggest advantages of this yoga types is that all of the postures used in it can be easily done at home, so following this practice in your bedroom or living room won't be much of a problem.

Power Yoga:

Power Yoga as the name suggests provides intense cardiovascular training and will be very helpful to those trying to lose weight.

Hot Yoga:

Hot yoga (also known as vinyasa yoga) supposes high room temperatures when doing it, which guarantees gallons of sweat and great weight loss results.

But no matter what type of yoga you choose to practice, remember that if you have much excessive weight and are generally out of shape, don't rush to the advanced class and spend some time with the beginners as you have to be in tone and shape before reaching any serious results with weight loss.

4 Step Guide To Meditation and Stress Control

Posted: 23 Jan 2012 04:00 PM PST

Article by By Cazadora

A Straightforward Guide To Meditation To Facilitate Dealing With AnxietyOne technique used in stress management is Meditation. A person who is riddled with problems often finds it tough to focus; which often leads to more troubles cropping up owing to their mistakes. Meditation techniques help one attain a calm state of mind without having to use alternatives such as drugs or respite tools and equipment. Every rung to meditation is done in the psyche. Bear in mind that meditation is not a one shot transaction. It is nearly impracticable to reach a calm state of mind in just a matter of minutes, particularly if it's your initial occasion at it. It is vital that you keep on working on meditating until you have trained your mind to immediately achieve the state just by your thoughts. Here is a ladder for a trainee to start with meditation as their Stress Management Plan. Rung 1: Locate A Silent Spot To Launch Your Meditation

Diversion is an obstruction to those who are still in the preliminary part of meditation. When you shut your eyes, your ability to hear will be twofold so it is reasonably possible to listen to almost everything in your environment that will make it tough for you to focus. It is imperative to set up in a quiet place in your house where clamor is non-existent when you first start out. Shut your windows and fasten your door. If doable, you can tell every person in your home to curtail their noise so that you won't get unfocused. Rung 2: Set Your PositionIt is wise for beginners to stay away from lying down when practicing meditation. The plan here is not to catnap, and it is a promise that you will immediately fall off and doze if your mind reaches a stress-free state. To prevent this from happening, you can begin your meditation in a lotus pose or you can find a chair you can park yourself on. Make sure that your back is in a straight line and your hands are comfortable on the armrest or on your lap. Rung 3: Commence Your Meditation With Appropriate BreathingAn excellent way! to begi n meditation is to do the right breathing exercise. You inhale through your nose and breathe out through your mouth. This way, you can focus effortlessly on the rhythm. Also, the quantity of oxygen in your body will be as much as necessary to keep you stress-free. Continue practicing your lungful of air until you can do it without difficulty devoid of thinking about it. Rung 4: Center Your Attention On Your MindAt the same time as you are active with your breathing, you will attain a state in which your mind will begin throwing imagery at you. These are generally hit and miss -- dealings of the day, upcoming plans, troubles and fears, uncertainties and so on. It will be tough to take no notice of these thoughts and you are not supposed to disregard them. The general idea here is to center on these thoughts without really giving them much consideration. This might seem impossible but let me give you a straightforward example to comprehend the idea. You know that you have stuff at home -- you can see this stuff plainly with your eyes but you are not really focused on it. Focusing on the stuff at home will usually make you think of its shade, its substance, how it looks and more. You need to be able to glance at these arbitrary thoughts in a disconnected state -- considering them clearly in your head but not focusing your awareness on it. You will move toward a point in time that these arbitrary thoughts will end and you will become aware of a empty space in your mind. This is the condition you want to accomplish during meditation. This is the place where you can reflect about your tribulations and focus on it until you can discover a solution for it. With this, you have effectively mastered the basics of meditation for your anxiety management course.

Different types of yoga

Posted: 23 Jan 2012 03:00 PM PST

Article by Harry golmes

Yoga is becoming a more and more popular activity in the Western world today. The number of places holding Yoga classes is on the increase and there is a plethora of different types of Yoga. With a choice of Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Power Yoga, Iyengar Yoga, Bikram Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga and many more it can be easy to get confusedThe Baby yoga pose or the child's pose is partially translated in Sanskrit to mean womb. The Baby yoga pose or the child pose when performed bears a huge resemblance to the human foetus in the womb and hence the name. The child pose is one of the most relaxing positions and is well liked by both beginners and advanced students as it provides a welcome break from the more strenuous poses at the right times. It does not require much practise to to do the pose well but subtle differences over time particularly with the lower back and its ability to relax are what will bring the pose up to the next level. Some of the most common types of yoga are Iyenga. This yoga is solely based on alignment and accurate movements. When working out the Iyengar way props are used such as straps and blocks for beginners who are not as flexible as the experts in this field. By using these yoga props it helps the beginner to relax and give comfort therefore encouraging beneficial results. This is the most popular yoga style these days. Ashtanga yoga (or yoga flow) introduced by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, doesn't hold positions nearly as long as other types and doesn't go as much in to breathing techniques, aside from inhale and exhale. Postures flow from one to the next with fluidity. The purpose of ashtanga yoga is to create heat in the body, which leads to purification of the body through increased circulation and sweating. This style is also called "power yoga." It's the most physically challenging style and best suited for someone who wants the benefits of yoga but a good workout as well. Let me tell you something, you will be sore!Expect some yoga types to be more physically exhausting and technica! lly more difficult than other types. Thus, your current physical condition is of utmost importance in your choice of yoga class. For instance, some yoga types will require you to do inverted postures like headstands. If you have ear problems or are hypertensive, doing such poses can be detrimental to your health.

A good yoga instructor will be sensitive to your limitations. But you have to inform your instructor of any health problems that you know or feel you have. From that information your instructor can devise a special program involving only the exercises that are applicable to you.Early responses are speedy and often very hard to evade, however it is necessary that, with a regular practice of yoga techniques, you find a constant feeling of control over your reactions.

The first reaction to a negative element of vacation stress can be either combating back or escaping. In any of these cases, there will be a significant amount of tensions that fills your body, and it could stay for days or weeks until you manage to get over these unfortunate events.

A peaceful and balanced response will have more chances of removing any kind of tension before it even gets an opportunity to start rising. Consider that the most vacations are short and do not afford to waste half of your vacation period in a negative mood. So, yoga techniques and meditation are there to recharge your body energy, and do not try to waste your vacations on worthless stress and tensions. If you have ever wanted to lose weight you may have found the wide array of methods and ideologies confusing. You may have wondered if you could lose it by dieting, pills, exercise, or other drastic measure alone. The answer is no! Losing weight takes a determined effort, willingness and patience, and the process of trying and combining methods to achieve what works best for you personally. In addition to lifestyle habits, dietary changes, and following the 5 key principles of a good lifestyle, yoga can help you achieve your goals.

The Purest Form of Meditation

Posted: 23 Jan 2012 02:00 PM PST

Article by Brandon Cook

"Infinite silence is the mind of God. It is a mind that can create anything out of the field of pure potentiality." -Deepak Chopra

We will be using meditation to prepare, relax, and heal the body and the mind from our physical training, as well as, to further develop the proper mindset. Meditation is also being included to prime our subconscious mind for the use and application of our other subconscious reprogramming techniques.Meditation works well in unison with the other techniques like creative visualization and affirmations. It also helps to put you in the proper brain wave frequency (alpha state) that is most conducive to these subconscious programming methods. It is important to note though, that meditation is quite effective on its own for body and life transformation. When used with the other techniques we will cover in this series I believe that they have a synergistic effect on each other. There are many different techniques on how to meditate and many are effective, however I prefer to use the ancient Zen Buddhist form of meditation.I believe this is the purest form of meditation and is in alignment with the whole point of meditation to begin with, which is to clear the mind of thought while becoming highly alert and aware. Most of the other meditation techniques are simply devices used to help one get to the point of pure meditation. The practice is rather simple. Find a comfortably place to sit, kneel, or lie down (I prefer kneeling in Seiza, a Japanese sitting posture where your butt rests on your calves/ankles.) You may close your eyes or leave them open.Maintain an erect and upright posture, if sitting or kneeling. Then simply breathe, focusing on your breath. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Breathe deeply into your abdomen and observe or notice the rise and fall of your belly. Breathe deeply, but naturally.Clear your mind and just focus on being there fully. Concentrate on your breathing. Listen intently. No need to label what you hear, just n! otice it . You may look with your eyes, but again do not label anything. Just be an observer. Be still. Be silent. Just be.Embracing this stillness and clearing the mind of all thought will help develop a calm, relaxed presence that will benefit you in all aspects of your life. This mindfulness is the power to be intensely present at whatever it is you are doing or whatever situation may arise. To be one with the moment... this is Zen, or in other words to be fully conscious. If a thought arises, and they will, do not grasp or cling to them. Just let them go. If you suddenly notice that you're thinking, immediately stop and return to focusing on your breathing.Continue meditating in this way for as long as wish. Start with 5 minutes twice a day. Raise it to 10, 15, or even 30+ minutes twice a day. The choice is yours really. I have found it beneficial with as little as 5 minutes a couple times a day. Start wherever you can.Eventually the goal is to remain in this heightened mind state as you go throughout your day.Give this practice some time and let me know if you have any questions or concerns.Meditation can really benefit your life and your training if taken seriously. Whenever I have practiced the martial arts, meditation was always a part of the training and definitely helps you to get in the zone. Your workouts will become more effective. Many times I will meditate after a good workout, the sweat pouring out of my body as I sit in silent meditation, resting in the moment and triggering the healing process to begin. One you get the hang of it, try adding moving meditation. I like to walk my dogs, clear my mind and become fully present. I focus on all of my senses, looking deeply into the trees, the clouds, sky, and grass.I open my ears to any sounds, the birds, insects, wind, footsteps, distant cars on the highway, a train passing, and dogs barking.I don't listen and go "oh there's a dog barking", rather I just listen... I just hear the bark. The idea is simply to experience the moment fully without judging it, ! labeling it, or otherwise interpreting it in anyway.Meditation is the first technique to harnessing the power of your subconscious mind and priming it for the other techniques to follow. Put it into practice immediately and you will find that the transformation has begun.Next I will cover six characteristics of the subconscious mind that will allow us to communicate successfully with our subconscious and impress our desires, goals, and intentions upon it more effectively.Knowing the ways in which the subconscious operates will improve the efficacy of the programming methods I will reveal in the final part of this series.

Piercing into the Cosmic Potency of Healing Meditation

Posted: 23 Jan 2012 01:00 PM PST

Article by Tom Fazio

Meditation is not psychic. Most people believe that healing meditation has something to do with magic. Others believe that there is no way mediation can heal the body, since there is no medicinal ingestion to counteract the disease-causing agents. These two groups have valid standpoints, but only because they lack in the knowledge of the true essence of meditation. The fact is that most ailments originate from the mind and healing the mind triggers healing of most diseases.

Engaging in healing meditation has numerous benefits. For instance, it reduces stress levels and anxiety. With stress levels down, most ailments also disappear since stress and anxiety are medically established causes of diseases. The beginning of a meditation session is in relaxing the muscles and letting them give up their strain, stress and tension. You feel tired and beaten down most of the time not because you are tired, but because the muscles have accumulated a lot of tension. Meditation activates a relaxation in the muscles to the point that they have a new leash of health and well being.

When an infectious microorganism attacks the body, sensory nerves detect it and inform the mind of its presence. The mind reacts by commissioning necessary protective measures against diseases such as deploying white blood cells to produce antibodies that can decimate the foreign agent. Meditation harnesses the mind's ability to respond to infectious attacks rapidly and efficiently. Consequently, therefore, meditation enhances your immune system to fight present and future attacks.

One of the greatest achievements of meditation is relaxing the nervous system. Daily stresses accumulate and bear a huge burden on the mind. Worries begin the moment you step off the bed and accompany you through the hectic days until you lie again to sleep. In most cases, the worries, concerns and disappointments go to sleep with you and make it impossible even to sleep. Healing meditation gives you the ability to roll over the worries a! nd strai ns carried by your mind to a neat pile that does not seem so important. Meditation is the ability to transcend beyond worries and to achieve a totally relaxed mind. At that state, the mind is at its optimal finesse.

Meditation also severes the imaginary boundaries erected between the components of the self. Through meditation, you are able to transcend between the barriers of the body, mind and spirit until you achieve a glorious harmony and unity. The body was designed to work as a unit. However, our lifestyles usually segregate these three components and severe their integration. Consequently, the body and the spirit suffer while the mind is overburdened. Meditation enables these three parts to be one and thus to share all challenges. In that state, no disease can survive in the body, no strain can overbear the mind and no depression can stain your spirit.

Once such a oneness is attained, you are just one level away from attaining the real power of healing through meditation. The next level, which is the greatest of all meditation stations, is attaining an infinite feeling of absolute peace and physical well-being. When the mind agrees that you are okay and the spirit gains peace, the body follows suit with complete wholesomeness of health and relaxation. At this point, you have successfully pierced into the cosmic potency of healing meditation.

How Meditation Can Improve Your Health

Article by Keith Ward

The human is in a constant state of repair. When we sleep, our bodies take that time to heal itself and rid itself of foreign pathogens, as well as damaged tissue and bones. Every part of the human body is made of microscopic cells. These cells react to many different variables. Some of these variables include stress.

Stress can cause the cells in the body to reject themselves as well as the antibodies that help to protect it. This can cause a person to become prone to illnesses like the cold and the flu, as well as other ailments. Meditation has been used for centuries as a way to balance the mind and help heal the body. There are many different ways that meditation can help.

The body's immune system functions on a delicate balance. When that balance is disrupted, the body cannot fight infection and illness as well. Many things can throw the balance off. Stress is one of the more frequent causes of this balance being disrupted. If the body or mind is under a great deal of stress, it will send information to the rest of the body causing its cells to disrupt their own signal which will cause them to stop functioning correctly. When the cells stop functioning correctly, they begin to break down or turn against themselves.

Meditation can correct this imbalance. Through meditation, the mind can relax and release the negative energy that can build up over time. Stress can also cause a person to lose sleep, which deprives the body of the time it needs to heal. Stress induced loss of sleep is usually caused by the mind being unable to shut down. Meditative relaxation techniques help the mind to relax and release the tension in both the mind and the body. This will allow the mind to go into a sleep cycle, giving the body time to repair.

Stress can be caused by many factors. Chief among these factors are issues with work and money. Meditation can help with patience levels, allowing the mind to handle stressful situations. It can also assist in easing the mind and keeping it fresh. ! These te chniques can be used for job situations, as well. The techniques of meditation can help with concentration. Through meditation, you can gain the power to have control over your thoughts, and even occasionally stop them all together. Through meditation, you can relieve your anxieties and have a clear and peaceful mind.

Science shows that, during a period of alertness, the human brain produces a specific type of brain wave called beta waves. Beta waves are usually associated with busy, active, and anxious thinking as well as active concentration. However, in meditation, the human brain generates alpha waves, theta waves, and occasionally delta waves. These frequencies are typical in the brain activity of a person that is sleeping, however, in meditation, the person is still alert and focusing on stimuli.

It is these wave lengths that allow for the mind and body to repair itself, as well as come to a calm pause in conscious thought, which allows for time of self reflection and balance. Scans also show that a person that meditates has a more balanced and equalised brain pattern.

By balancing the mind and body through meditation, a person can promote positive physical and mental changes in themselves. During meditation, the body has time to recharge and regenerate any lost cells and repair the damages done by illness and stress. Meditation can also assist in lowering a persons stress levels and has also been shown to help lower blood pressure, as well. There are many studies that show the scientific and medical benefits of meditation. There are many different health benefits, including benefits for the heart, cancer and also some mental and psychological disorders, such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or ADHD.

An Ideal Meditation Sequence

Posted: 23 Jan 2012 10:00 AM PST

Article by Guided Journeys

Below you will find a suggestion for a sequence to use when meditating. This is one we find most useful and allows you to deepen your meditations and discover more within yourself.

Opening gesture Relaxation Breathing Energy clearing Meditation or Guided Journey Closing gesture Meditation diary Grounding An opening gesture informs your subconscious that you are ready to meditate. It also signals a departure from reality and preparation for going within. In this way, we ensure by using opening and closing gestures that we step between the worlds and return fully to reality when we are done. With continued use, the opening gesture brings subtler forms of consciousness more under your control and makes you more efficient in day to day life rather than floating off and being away with the faeries! Suggestions for opening gestures would be stretching your hands forward and imagining you are opening a pair of curtains, using a particular word that signifies to you that you are ready to meditate, imagining stepping through a doorway into a Meditation Sanctuary, making a circle in the air around you with an outstretched finger. You can use any of these or make up your own. You will also need a reverse symbol or word for the closing gesture.

Relaxation is essential to all forms of meditation. If you relax the body you will also calm the mind and the emotions. Posture is also important to relaxation. Ideally you should have a straight spine and be sitting on a firm chair. Anything too soft and you won't get the support that you need. Meditation can be performed lying down in bed but is not recommended, especially when you begin, as you are most likely to fall asleep.

Breathing deepens you meditation and takes you further into yourself. It helps you move away from reality and into finer forms of consciousness. There are many different types of breathing techniques that can be used, but to begin with we suggest deep breathing through the nose, holding the breath briefly between inhalatio! ns and e xhalations. You can count a certain number of breaths or heartbeats or just take a deep breath which feels natural and hold it for a couple of seconds. Deep breathing will bring more oxygen into your system, help clear away toxins and stale air, waken the mind and the brain and thus clarify your thought processes.

Energy clearing before meditation allows you to get rid of all the events of the day, washes away fears and doubts and any nervousness and cleanses your aura of anything you might have picked up during daily activities. You can simply use white light to cleanse your aura, breathing it into all of your organs and chakras or use other colours which appeal to you. The silver white flame is particularly powerful for cleansing and transforming the aura.

You can then proceed with your meditation or guided journey and if you have performed all of the above beforehand you will find that the meditation is stronger and more intense. The aim for these meditations is to have the mind awake and the body deeply relaxed so it doesn't disturb you.

When you have finished with the meditation, come back fully into your body, stretch, open your eyes and perform the closing gesture. This instructs your subconscious that you are ready to return to reality and continue with your day.

Write up all your realisations and brief synopsis of what happened in your meditation diary. This does not need to be a word for word account of what went on, just the main highlights and ideas that came to you. You can look back on this later and see how you have developed and transformed.

Grounding is vitally important as it brings you back completely into your body so that you function at full capacity and with full awareness of everything around you. Have something to eat, do something physical, go for a walk - anything that brings you back to reality. Focus on your feet on the ground and feel the Earth beneath. Send lines of light from your feet deep down into the Earth.
