Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation
Michael Shiffman, Ph.D. will be conducting a seminar on Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation on June 28 - August 9, from 7:30 - 9:30pm. The seminar will be conducted at the Insight Center in Los Angeles, California.
This workshop will introduce students to the first step in the practice of what is often called insight, mindfulness or Vipassana meditation. There will be a focus on the often-neglected nuts-and-bolts of what to do and how to train one's minds. Shiffman will alternate short periods of silent meditation with an exploration of what actually happens while one is meditating.
The seminar will also cover the practical aspects of posture, how to cultivate one's attention, working with one's thoughts, and developing an attitude that fosters one's openness to experience.
